Red Sunset Maple

Vigorously growing tree with a strong leader and good branching pattern. The dark green leaves reliably turn a deep red in the Fall. A very popular and reliable cultivar of the red maple, with upright branching and oval form. Developed by J.F.Schmidt in Oregon, it is one of the most widely planted cultivars of red maple. Life expectancy is at least 80 years.

Preferred Site
Full sun. Average to moist soils and will tolerate wet soils. Prefers slightly acid soil and does not tolerate alkaline soil. Some tolerance of urban pollution.

Prune in late summer after leaves fully developed to prevent bleeding of sap.
